Welcome to Sixth Grade!
My name is Mrs. Gabrielle Ferguson. I joined the Rocklin Academy team in 2015, and I am fortunate to be a part of this amazing school community! Although this will be my sixth year at Rocklin Academy, it will be my 16th year of teaching. Some of you may know me as a first-grade teacher, but I am excited to be teaching sixth grade again after ten years of a hiatus.
My background did not start in the Sacramento area or the teaching profession. I was raised in the Bay Area where my parents still live. I went to California State University of Sacramento and earned my Bachelors in Communications. I worked in the Human Resources field for seven years. After many years of thinking about teaching, I decided to return to school and earned my Masters in Education. I am passionate about teaching and have not regretted my choice to change careers since.
When I am not teaching, I cherish my time with my husband and my daughter. During fall we cheer for my daughter in soccer. When we are not busy with soccer, I am taking care of my chickens and soon more farm animals. In addition, I love soccer, running, photography, cooking, crafting, and reading.
This year will be filled with a ton of experiences and I am looking forward to guiding and celebrating your child’s accomplishments during this transitional year of their elementary school experience.
I believe partnering with parents is invaluable for student success. Although the past school year looked different, there will be many opportunities for us to partner during the year. Your support and time is an essential part of our year. I can’t wait to work together to make this year filled with wonderful memories!
