Bio

Hello, my name is Kathy Putkey, and I’m excited to be a Rocklin Academy 5th-grade teacher. With almost 30 years of teaching experience, I’m passionate about supporting students in their academic, social, and emotional growth. I truly believe that every child can thrive when given the right encouragement and environment.

My goal is to create a classroom that is safe, respectful, and engaging, where every student feels valued and empowered. I strive to spark curiosity, promote critical thinking, and nurture creativity, making learning both meaningful and enjoyable.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Child Development from San Jose State University in 1997 and began my teaching journey soon after. In 2019, I completed my Master of Education in Educational Leadership from National University, along with my Administrative Services Credential. This experience deepened my understanding of effective teaching and school leadership.

I have two wonderful daughters. One attends Chico State, and the other is a sophomore at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. I enjoy supporting their activities and cheering them on at events. When I’m not at their activities, I enjoy walking, going to the gym, and finding quiet moments to read.
