Hello Rocklin Academy Families!

My name is Carly Killian. This is my second year teaching at Rocklin Academy, and I feel so grateful to be part of such a supportive and inspiring school community.  Before joining Rocklin Academy, I taught both 3rd and 5th grades in the Rocklin Unified School District. I’ve lived in Rocklin for the past seven years, though I originally grew up in El Dorado Hills. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies from Sonoma State University and later completed my teaching credential through CalStateTEACH.  My journey in education began in early childhood education, where I taught preschool for three years. I then spent time substitute teaching across various grade levels, which helped me develop a well-rounded perspective on student needs and learning styles. I officially received my teaching credential last year and couldn’t be more excited to be teaching 4th grade!  I deeply value each of my students as unique individuals and strive to create a classroom environment where every child feels seen, heard, and supported. I’ve also built strong friendships with many of the amazing educators here at Rocklin Academy, which makes this place feel like a second home.  Outside of the classroom, I’m a proud stepmother to two wonderful girls—Leilani (16) and Kenzie Belle (10). Kenzie is also part of the Rocklin Academy family and is currently in 5th grade!  I’m looking forward to a fantastic year of learning and growth together.
